"I work with 0-8 in a mainstream school where I often feel they miss the importance of my work - I feel empowered again!!"
- Delegate 2015
In July 2016 we held our sixth annual South West Every Deaf Child Matters conference, which brought together over 100 participants including professionals, parents and young people to explore together how to best prepare and support deaf children and young people for life, both in and beyond school.
After much consideration, the SW EDCM team has taken the decision not to hold a conference this year, 2017. Instead, we are currently working on a project that seeks to respond proactively to the evidence we have gathered through the conferences and builds on last year's theme of equipping and empowering deaf children and young people for positive outcomes.
Working in collaboration with Imagine If… Delivery Partnership, the aim of the project is to create integrated resources and training through the Assets for Success strengths based coaching model. This will have a greater impact on improved outcomes for deaf children and young people. The project seeks to provide practical support to young people directly and to professionals and parents to join up the approach.
We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone who has attended and supported the conferences. Please keep an eye on the website for more information about the project, and the opportunity to book places on the new training sessions.

"This conference has become an important national as well as regional event. It is at the forefront of bringing together leading speakers to share the latest thinking about the National context but also blends this with regional knowledge and practical understanding of local implications. The conference is always fizzing with new ideas and approaches and an essential means of keeping up with latest developments in constructive and helpful atmosphere."
